BigFix, Inc., is currently searching for a Software QA Engineer - Platform to be located in our Emeryville, CA offices.

BigFix is looking to hire aggressive, motivated, and energetic software engineers to fill Senior QA positions within our Platform QA team. You will help push BigFix’s unique real-time distributed computing approach to managing computing systems into the next generation. You will join a tight, skilled, world-class R&D team to bend, fold and mutilate the BigFix platform and agent and insure that it delivers unsurpassed functionality and performance in complex distributed network environments. You should love complex networked software, pushing your knowledge of technology, and breaking technology to make it better.

Responsibilities:

• Soup-to-nuts responsibility for QA on one or more BigFix platform functional areas or platform components
• Work closely with the development team to shape designs for testability
• Test planning
• Functional, regression, and performance test execution
• Mentoring other members of the QA team

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years direct software QA experience
• Experience testing systems or embedded products across multiple operating systems such as Windows, UNIX, Linux, and Macintosh
• Track record as a lead QA engineer on a significant product or product component
• Experience using tools such as those for profiling, code coverage, resource usage, resource leak detection, packet capture/analysis, load testing, and GUI verification
• Good understanding of networking, security, and web technologies
• System administration knowledge of Windows and at least one UNIX or Linux platform\
• Proficiency in a scripting language, preferably Perl
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent engineering or technical degree.
